Definition of Natural Horsemanship

Natural Horsemanship is using and teaching a method of handling, training and riding horses understanding how horse communication, their natural survival instincts and personality traits.  Gaining their trust, trust, earning their respect and leadership to establish a good relationship.  I believe in horse philosophy with emphasis on the mental, emotional and physical state of the horse.  I believe in and use two way communication considering the horses point of view.  Although I may have to be firm I am fair to ensure the safety of the rider or handler, as well as the horse.  I simply do not use fear or pain to motivate the animal, nor do I attempt to force the animal into submission.

Natural Horsemanship is the techniques I use to preserve the horse’s Natural Character of softness, the source of lightness.  It is their way of being and we must not take it out of them and replace it by using harsh and forceful techniques!
